Three Decisions. One Clear Path.

01

Where will you submit?

Choose the submission pathways relevant to your customers. State and federal authorizations are not interchangeable.

02

What will your system need?

Explore the scanner, base software, optional submission modules, accessories, and compatible computer.

03

How much guidance do you want?

Select technical support and decide whether you also want business training. Those are different purchases.

What Do the LiveScan Modules Actually Do?

A LiveScan scanner captures fingerprints, but the software modules determine what services your system is configured to support. Not every buyer needs every module. Start with the customers you plan to serve, then choose the appropriate workflows.

    The short answer

Core software runs the capture workflow. FDLE supports eligible Florida submissions. FBI Channeling is a separate federal identity-history pathway. P2C and card-printing workflows relate to supported card-based services. These are not interchangeable.

Click any module below for the full explanation. Each explanation covers what it does, who it is for, what else you may need, and the right questions to ask before you buy.

01Essential foundationBase LiveScan SoftwareWhat every LiveScan system needs to manage digital fingerprint capture$2,499 estimate⌄

    What it does

This is the core software your operator uses with a compatible fingerprint scanner. It supports capturing, viewing, checking, and organizing digital fingerprint records as part of your approved workflow.

    Who needs it?

Anyone building a supported LiveScan system. It's the foundation on which state, federal, and card-related capabilities may be added.

Important distinction: Base software alone does not automatically authorize electronic submission to FDLE, the FBI, or another agency. Those services can require separate modules, registration, agreements, and approvals.

Ask us: “Which scanner and submission modules work with my base software?”

02Florida applicant servicesFlorida FDLE 2.0 ModuleFor qualifying Florida licensing, employment, and agency background-screening workflows$1,649 estimate⌄

    What it does

Configures the system for eligible fingerprint-record submissions through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), using the appropriate agency and applicant workflow.

    Who may need it?

Operators serving qualified Florida applicants, including certain professional licensing, employment, and healthcare-screening use cases. The applicable ORI, agency requirements, and provider eligibility determine which transactions can be processed.

    What about AHCA Clearinghouse?

Some Florida healthcare and related applicant workflows require an applicant photo as well as fingerprints. Some eligible agency submissions use a PhotoCap workflow. We confirm whether the correct photo capability is included in your final configuration.

Before you sell Florida submissions: required FDLE registration, configuration, testing, and agency authorization must be completed. The module purchase by itself does not grant approval to submit.

Ask us: “I want to process Florida licensing and/or AHCA applicants. Which FDLE and photo capabilities will my system require?”

03Optional federal pathwayFBI Channeling BundleFor eligible FBI Identity History Summary Check requests through an authorized channeler$1,299 estimate⌄

    What it does

Provides a pathway for eligible FBI identity-history summary check requests through an authorized FBI channeler, rather than through the Florida state submission module. The quoted bundle includes assistance with the related account setup.

    Who may benefit?

Businesses serving individuals who need qualifying personal federal identity-history records for matters such as international documentation or personal record review. Whether a particular applicant or purpose is eligible must be checked in advance.

    Are there fees after purchase?

Yes. A channeling fee may apply to each transaction (previous examples have been $35). That is separate from the module purchase and any fingerprinting service fee you charge. Current fees and channeler terms must be confirmed.

Not the same as a general employment background check. FBI Identity History Summary Checks have specific permitted uses, identification requirements, and channeler rules. This is not a blanket authorization to conduct any federal screening.

Ask us: “Will my customers need eligible FBI identity-history checks, and what transaction fees and eligibility rules apply?”

    04Optional card-related workflowP2C / Print-to-Card OptionsFor supported card-based submissions, FD-258 output, and specialized destinations$999 estimate⌄

    What does P2C mean here?

The P2C module supports certain card-based or card-scan-related submission paths, including certain out-of-state and ATF file-preparation use cases. The exact available destinations depend on the licensed software, service arrangement, and receiving agency's rules.

What about physical FD-258 fingerprint cards?

Producing physical fingerprint cards from digital capture can require a separate print-to-card output capability and a printer validated for the specific system. We will confirm the distinction between P2C submission functions and physical card printing when preparing your quote.

    Who may want this?

Providers serving clients with fingerprint-card requirements, selected out-of-state licensing needs, and other accepted card-based processes. It's useful to identify the receiving agency before choosing the module.

Equipment note: Not every office printer is appropriate for certified fingerprint-card output. Printer compatibility and separate purchase requirements must be checked before ordering.

Ask us: “Do I need electronic card-based submission, physical FD-258 printing, or both?”

05Workflow dependentPhoto Capture, Signature & ID ToolsSupporting hardware and features—not substitutes for submission modulesVaries by item⌄

    Applicant photo capture

The proposed Logitech C920 webcam supports the photo workflow specified for certain Florida agency submissions, subject to current system and state compatibility.

    Signature pad

Used to collect electronic signatures where supported by the selected record or card workflow. Availability and accessory pricing are confirmed with your system configuration.

    Driver's license barcode reader

Can populate supported identity fields from an ID barcode, reducing repetitive data entry. The operator remains responsible for verifying the applicant's information.

Popular accessories: Webcam, barcode reader and signature pad. Some are optional; others are required for particular agency workflows. We’ll confirm what your system needs.

Ask us: “Which accessories are truly needed for the services I plan to offer?”

06Location and approval dependentAdditional State & Agency ModulesServing another state may involve different software and authorization rulesQuoted individually⌄

    What it does

Where offered, additional modules and arrangements may support specific state or agency workflows beyond the Florida configuration shown here. Each jurisdiction has its own requirements.

    Who may need it?

Businesses that operate in more than one state or want to serve customers submitting to an agency outside their home state.

Important: Being located in one state does not automatically authorize your business to send electronic records to a different state's contracted system. We verify availability, approved pathways, and provider eligibility before proposing a solution.

Ask us: “I operate in [state], and my clients need submissions for [agency]. What options are currently supported?”

    What's included vs. taught

    Common questions

    Answers Before Your Next Call.

Can I start with the base system and add modules later?

Potentially, subject to the vendor's compatibility, software version, contractual and technical requirements. Ask Secure Biometrics to confirm which upgrades can be added to your configuration.

Does FDLE coverage include FBI Channeling?

No. No. Florida state submission capabilities and FBI Channeling are separate options. We’ll help clarify which services fit your customers and what approvals apply.

Can I use my own laptop?

Yes, if it meets the requirements for your selected system. Customer-provided computers may have a different installation charge.

Does the price include a fingerprint card printer?

A card printer is not included in the standard configuration described here. We’ll confirm the compatible printer you need if you plan to offer fingerprint-card printing.

Is system training the same as starting a fingerprinting business?

No. Basic system operation and business strategy are separate. The latter may be purchased through Secure Biometrics education offerings.

    Can I finance the equipment?

We can provide information about third-party financing options. Approval, interest rates and repayment terms are determined by the financing provider.

Can I submit fingerprints as soon as the equipment arrives?

Not necessarily. State registration and any agency-specific authorization, configuration or testing must be completed first.

What about warranty, returns and annual support?

Hardware manufacturer warranties, software support subscriptions and seller return terms are separate. Request current written agreements before purchase.
